Notes regarding TravelKR’s tours
TravelKR has a unique view on travel- we don’t want to stuff you on a bus and take you around Japan. We want to show you Japan. We want you to feel like you’ve just met up with a friend that knows Japan like the back of their hand. Tour without feeling like a Tourist- that’s our goal. Please keep in mind that all TravelKR trips are not farmed out to some local company, they are designed by TravelKR guides and run by those same guides who know Japan and want to share that love.
Important Booking Considerations
The minimum sized group is 5 people, and the tour will be confirmed a month in advance, at minimum. That means as soon as 5 people have signed up and paid, the tour is confirmed and will go forward whether or not more people sign up. However, if only 1-4 people sign up the tour may be canceled at TravelKR’s discretion. If TravelKR cancels the trip, anyone who has signed up and paid will be given a full refund. However, any other costs purchased separately (such as airline tickets and travel insurance) will not be refunded. Therefore, it is imperative that you wait for the trip to be confirmed before making any additional purchases. As soon as 5 people have signed up and paid, all parties that have signed up and paid will be sent a confirmation email. At that point forward other purchases (airline tickets, travel insurance, etc) should be made.
Travel Insurance
Travel Insurance is required for all TravelKR trips. At a minimum emergency medical must be covered, but we recommend a policy that covers loss of luggage, cancelation, liability, etc. Proof of insurance and the insurer’s information must be provided to us before you leave for your trip.
Traveling in Japan
While we’re traveling in Japan there will be a lot of walking, going up and down stairs and getting on and off buses and trains, so pack light and stay fit! You’ll be carrying your own luggage, so think ahead- we recommend bringing the smallest bag you’re comfortable with. Some of the places will have laundry/laundry service if you need it.
Meeting Point & Instructions
1-12-33 Akasaka Minato-ku
Tokyo, 107-0052 Japan
It is very easy to get from Narita airport to our hotel by bus, called Airport Limousine. However, Narita airport is located far outside downtown Tokyo, and travel from Narita Airport to ANA Intercontinental Tokyo will take ~1.5-2 hours by bus. Please take this into consideration when purchasing airfare as you should plan to be at the hotel between 3pm and 6pm to check in. A TravelKR guide will meet you in the lobby of the hotel to assist you with check in. All the necessary information (where to buy tickets, where to board, etc) regarding the bus can be found here: from Narita Airport to ANA Intercontinental Tokyo. Tickets are 3000 yen per person- please keep a receipt as you will be reimbursed once you arrive at the hotel. No refund is available for portions of the tour missed due to a delayed or different flight arrival.
Monetary Considerations
Every traveler is different when it comes to considering how much money they should bring. If you like to shop or drink, there will be plenty of opportunities, but be sure to bring enough Japanese money to cover your expenses. Most major stores will accept credit cards, however Japan is still a heavily cash based society and many stores and restaurants are cash only.
Food & Drink
We want to show you the best of Japan- and that includes the best food. These are not your run of the mill meals! All breakfasts and dinners are included, but lunches are not. This will give you the opportunity to try whatever cuisine looks interesting. Additionally, any drinks (outside those included in course menus) are at your own expense. It is quite common in Japan to have a course menu as well as all you can drink (including alcohol) for a set period of time- many of our meals will be this style.
Single Travelers
All TravelKR trip prices are based on double occupancy- that is, two people to a room. If you book as a single traveler we will try and room you with someone of the same gender. If you prefer a single room, we can arrange a single room for an additional cost- please let us know at the time of your booking.
Visas
Making sure you have the proper visa to enter Japan is up to you, given that rules and regulations vary from country to country. American and Australian citizens do not need a visa to enter Japan, but you will need proof that you have a ticket to return home or leave Japan.
Disclaimers
While we do our best to plan our trips perfectly, there are things beyond our control that may happen- a temple may be closed for a day, a train might be late, weather may force us to change our plans, etc. By booking a trip with TravelKR, you accept that the itinerary may change at any time, for any reason and consent to that risk.
Additionally, if anyone is found breaking the law, TravelKR reserves the right to expel anyone without refund. Drugs are an extremely serious issue in Japan, and there is no legal distinction between hard and soft drugs as there is in other countries. If the police catch you with any illegal drug, you will likely go to jail for a long time.
